FanFan was born in Peguyville Haiti and was brought to
“Sunshine Orphanage” when he was six years old. He was left
there by his mother because she was unable to care for him. When
he was older, a missionary sent him to school to learn English and
soon FanFan was able to work as an interpreter.
FanFan is married and has two children. His wife’s name is
Vivianne, and his children are David, who is 9 years old, and
Nayanka, who is 5.
In 2000, FanFan
began to work for CSI (Christian Services International), an
organization that does many building projects and medical
missions in Haiti. FanFan currently works there as an assistant
to the director, coordinating and interpreting for mission teams.
While working with CSI on projects in
Croix des Bouquets, FanFan was touched by the needs of the
children in the area of “Laferonney”. Many of the children asked
him about a school for them. In 2002, the Lord gave FanFan the
opportunity to purchase a piece of property in Laferonney to build
a school. FanFan purchased the property without knowing how
long that it would take to build the school. Later that same year,
four women from “Faith United Methodist Church” of Elkhart
Indiana came to do a VBS as part of a CSI project. When FanFan
brought them to look at the property for the school, they observed
the children in the area who were carrying water in buckets over
great distances to bring to their families. After seeing this, the
women determined to raise the money for a well to be built on the
school grounds. The year after the well was completed, the church
voted to donate all the money to complete the school!
FanFan gives credit to God for blessing him, and the children of
Laferrony by moving the hearts of the people of Faith United
Methodist Church, so that this vision for a school could be realized.
Praise God for His faithfulness !
The name of the school will be “Faith Academy of Laferonney”
because it was built by faith in God. The faith that led FanFan to
purchase the property, and the faith that led Faith United Methodist
Church to fund the project.
